Quicky: Sane keyboard shortcuts to navigate OS X Mavericks Finder tabs

by poolik

The default shortcut for next tab in OS X Mavericks Finder is “^ + ⇥” and “^ + ⇧ + ⇥” for previous tab. I think it’s rather clunky. Something like “⌥ + →” and “⌥ + ←” would be much better, here’s how to change it:

  1. Open System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts
  2. Select App Shortcuts, click + icon
  3. Configure it as here:

  4. Repeat, just replace “Previous” with “Next” and record the correct shortcut (“⌥ + →”)

End result:
Finder navigation shortcuts

Congrats! Now you can sanely navigate finder tabs, I only wish there was a way to directly jump to say the third tab with “⌘ + 3″.
